Classic Timber Flooring for Warm, Natural Queensland Homes

Natural timber finishes that suit coastal, modern, and traditional interiors alike.

Timber flooring on the Sunshine Coast brings warmth, character, and lasting appeal to homes up and down the coast. From rich Australian hardwoods and solid timber flooring to engineered timber boards in European oak and native species, we stock a wide range of styles to suit coastal, contemporary, and traditional Queensland interiors.

At our Warana showroom, we help homeowners find the right timber floor for their space, whether that's a wide-board engineered oak for a beachside renovation, a durable hardwood timber flooring option for a high-traffic family home, or a classic native species to complement an established Queensland home.

Why engineered timber flooring on the Sunshine Coast?

Engineered timber is purpose-built for Queensland's humidity and temperature swings. A real timber veneer sits over a stable, layered core, giving you the authentic look and feel of solid timber with far better resistance to movement. Most of our ranges come factory-finished with up to 16 protective coatings, which outperforms anything applied on-site.

If solid timber flooring is what you're after, we stock that too. They are best suited to well-ventilated, stable environments where installation conditions can be controlled.

Come in and explore our full range of engineered timber, solid hardwood, wide-board oak, and Australian native species. We'll help you compare options and find the right style for your home and lifestyle.

Engineered Timber vs Solid Timber: What’s the Difference?

  • Engineered Timber has a real timber surface over a stable multi-layered core. It’s more resistant to movement, making it ideal for the Sunshine Coast’s humidity and temperature changes.

  • Solid Timber is hardwood through the entire board. It lasts for decades but can be more sensitive to climate, making installation conditions more important.

Engineered Timber Flooring FAQs

Do you supply and install timber flooring on the Sunshine Coast?

We supply and install timber flooring in homes right across the Sunshine Coast, from Caloundra and Pelican Waters in the south through Kawana Waters, Maroochydore and Buderim to Noosa and Tewantin in the north.

We also service the Sunshine Coast hinterland including Maleny, Montville and Mapleton. Our team handles everything from product selection through to installation, so you don't have to coordinate multiple trades.

What is engineered timber flooring?

Engineered timber combines a real timber veneer (usually 2–6 mm thick) glued onto a plywood core. You get the warmth and uniqueness of real wood with greater stability and easier installation than solid timber.

Is engineered timber more stable than solid timber in Queensland’s climate?

Definitely. The plywood core is layered in alternating directions (north–south–east–west), resisting expansion and contraction from humidity. That makes it ideal for coastal Queensland homes.

Why choose engineered over solid timber?

Engineered boards are factory-finished in airtight environments with up to 16 protective coatings. This level of finishing is far more than the 2–3 coats typically applied on-site to solid timber. As such, they’re tougher, more sustainable (with five times less raw timber per board), and less prone to cupping or gapping.

What's the difference between oak and hardwood timber flooring?

Oak is a type of hardwood, but the two terms get used differently in flooring. "Hardwood flooring" usually refers to Australian native species like blackbutt, spotted gum and tallowwood: dense, durable timbers with strong natural character and grain.

"Oak flooring" refers specifically to European or American oak, which has become very popular for its lighter, more uniform tones and wide-board options. Both are available as engineered timber, which is what we stock.

If you're drawn to a warmer, coastal or Scandi-inspired look, oak is likely your direction. If you want something bolder with more natural variation, Australian hardwood is worth a look. We can show you both in the showroom.

Can engineered timber be sanded and refinished?

Yes, it can, but it does depend on the veneer thickness. Usually it can be sanded and refinished once or twice. However, sanding removes any smoked or stained topcoat, revealing the timber’s natural colour. It’s a last-resort option, not routine maintenance.

How do I care for engineered timber?

Sweep or vacuum often, use felt pads under furniture, and keep blinds or tints on large windows to reduce UV oxidisation (the yellowing effect). A well-made engineered floor can outlast most solid timbers.

How much does timber flooring cost on the Sunshine Coast?

Timber flooring pricing depends on the species, construction type (engineered vs solid), board width, finish, and the size of the area being installed. That makes it difficult to give a meaningful number without knowing your specific situation.

What we can tell you is that we stock options across a range of budgets, from quality engineered timber entry points through to premium wide-board European oak.
