Why Vinyl Flooring?
-
Waterproof & Easy to Maintain
Vinyl planks and tiles create a waterproof surface once installed correctly, which makes them ideal for kitchens, laundries, and busy family spaces. A quick sweep or light mop will keep your floor looking fresh.
-
Durable for Everyday Living
Vinyl resists scuffs, dents, and wear. It’s a smart option for high-traffic homes, rentals, and commercial spaces. It’s built to handle pets, kids, and daily activity.
-
Quiet & Comfortable Underfoot
Softer and quieter than laminate or tiles, vinyl helps reduce noise and improves comfort underfoot, especially in multi-storey homes or apartments.
-
Realistic Timber & Stone-Look Designs
Modern, luxury vinyl flooring mimics the warm, natural look of timber or stone without the maintenance. Choose from coastal tones, modern oak, classic timbers, and refined stone finishes.
-
Great for Renovations with Height Limits
Because vinyl planks are thin and fully glued down, they’re ideal in spaces where you need to transition cleanly to existing tiles, carpet, or entry thresholds.
Vinyl vs Hybrid: What’s the Difference?
Vinyl and hybrid flooring look similar, but they perform differently:
- Vinyl: is fully glued down, quieter, thinner, and more stable in heat and humidity.
- Hybrid: is a floating floor, thicker, softer underfoot, and fully waterproof.
If you’re unsure which suits your home, we can help you compare both options during a free measure and quote.

Where Vinyl Flooring Works Best
Vinyl flooring is versatile and works well in a wide range of residential and commercial areas:
- Kitchens & laundries: waterproof, stable, and easy to clean
- Rentals & commercial spaces: durable and low maintenance
- Apartments & units: quiet underfoot, ideal for noise-sensitive spaces
- Living rooms & hallways: stylish and comfortable for everyday use
- Renovations: great when height transitions matter
- Coastal homes: stable in humidity and temperature changes
Vinyl Plank Flooring FAQs
Do you supply and install vinyl flooring on the Sunshine Coast?
Yes. We supply and install vinyl flooring in homes and businesses right across the Sunshine Coast, from Caloundra and Pelican Waters in the south through Kawana Waters, Maroochydore and Buderim to Noosa and Tewantin in the north.
We also service the Sunshine Coast hinterland including Maleny, Montville and Mapleton. Our team handles everything from product selection through to installation, so you don't have to coordinate multiple trades.
What is vinyl plank flooring?
Vinyl planks are pure PVC planks glued directly to the subfloor. They create a stable, waterproof surface that works well in both family homes and commercial spaces.
What's the difference between vinyl plank and hybrid flooring?
Vinyl plank is glued directly to the subfloor, making it thinner, quieter, and very stable in the heat and humidity of a Queensland home.
Hybrid flooring is a floating floor, meaning it clicks together and sits over the subfloor without adhesive.
Hybrid is thicker, slightly softer underfoot, and fully waterproof. Both are excellent choices depending on your space and subfloor situation.
We can walk you through which suits your home during a free measure and quote.
Is vinyl flooring suitable for wet areas like bathrooms and laundries?
Yes. Once glued down and correctly siliconed at edges, vinyl planks form a fully waterproof surface suitable for wet areas. Kawana Flooring installs a discreet tile angle between living areas and wet zones to contain any water and make future repairs easy. There is an important distinction between vinyl that is water-resistant at the surface and an installation that is genuinely waterproof from top to bottom. For the full picture, see our guide to waterproof vinyl flooring for Sunshine Coast homes at https://kawanaflooring.com.au/blogs/k-floor/waterproof-vinyl-flooring-sunshine-coast.
When can I walk on vinyl flooring after installation?
You can walk on it straight away, but it’s best to let the adhesive cure for several hours before moving furniture or placing heavy items.
Can vinyl flooring be repaired if scratched or damaged?
Yes. Individual planks can be lifted and replaced because they’re not interlocked. Light surface marks can sometimes be softened or heat-repaired by re-melting the protective top layer.
How do I clean and maintain vinyl plank flooring?
Vinyl is low maintenance. Sweep often and use a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads to maintain the surface finish.

How much does vinyl flooring cost on the Sunshine Coast?
Vinyl flooring on the Sunshine Coast typically costs between $55 and $130 per square metre supplied and installed in 2026, with budget projects from around $45 per square metre and premium luxury vinyl pushing past $150 per square metre. The variation depends on wear layer thickness, plank construction, subfloor condition, and installation method.
